Years at St Rose: First year
About Mrs. West:
Carol West began her teaching career as the elementary physical education teacher at Our Lady of Lourdes in Vancouver, Washington. In the fall of 2000, Carol and her husband Harold moved their family back to Longview where Carol began her career with the Longview school district as a physical education specialist. During her time at St. Helens Elementary, Carol obtained her MS degree to better implement and support her students in their personal fitness journey. In 2008, Carol transferred to Cascade Middle School where she taught 7th grade health and fitness for twelve years. In the classroom and as a coach, I have always enjoyed helping students step out of their comfort zones to risk the possibilities that lie beyond.
Why did you choose St. Rose?
I chose St. Rose because it aligns with my values and morals as an educator. Children meet the expectations you place before them, and St. Rose offers a safe environment with high expectations. This provides children the opportunity to develop grit through rigorous curriculum and supportive educators. I cannot wait to begin working with St. Rose staff and families!
