Each year there are different events that make me proud of our students. For a number of years one of those has been the release of our school's WASL (Washington Assessment of Student Learning) scores. Since we are a private school, our participation in the WASL is optional and is an additional expense to us. As most of our students move into public schools for their high school education, I have always felt it would be a disservice to our students not to provide the opportunity to take the WASL and prepare them to be successful. Students in Grades 4 and 7 test in the areas of reading, writing, and math. Fifth and eighth graders are only tested in science.
As the results indicate, our students continue to be successful. That success is attributted to the hard work of our students and staff. All our staff lay the groundwork for the preparation of each class. From preschool through 8th grade, our students are supported to maximize their academic potential and our test results continue to be evidence of that. The priority our families place on education and the support they provide their children also makes a real difference. The support of our parish community also has an impact on our students. I am grateful to all who create the community of care that supports our students.
