SERVICE

St. Rose School stresses the importance of being of service to others, whether it be at home, school, church, or in the community at large.

Middle school students are required to participate in six hours of service each trimester, and complete a service documentation form.  (Download the Middle School Service Hour form).

Examples of all-school service projects include:

Pet Food Drive    St. Rose collects pet food in the spring for the Longview Humane Society. Over the past  years we have received donations in pet food totaling over $5,000.  The Pet Food Drive is organized by 1st grade teacher, Ms. Martha Bridges.

Food Drive    Every Thanksgiving, the school helps St. Vincent De Paul by collecting non-perishible food items for the poor. This has been a school tradition for over 20 years.

Coat Drive     For the last five years, there has been a coat drive during the fall.  Coats collected must be in decent condition, may be any size, and may include regular coats, sweatshirts, and heavy vests. Competitions are held between classes, and at the end of the coat drive the class collecting the most coats gets an ice-cream party.

Sock Drive  Classes collect new or clean gently used socks, which are donated to St. Vincent de Paul.  This year, more than 300 pairs were collected from the combined classes.
