Objectives: Mrs. Lowe, the physical education teacher at St. Rose School, expects her classes to provide a safe and fun environment, allowing children to actively participate and make skills stronger, especially those which will last a lifetime.
Content: Things which Mrs. Lowe includes in her classes are fundimental movements, lead up to sports skills, leisure time activities, physical fitness, and some dance.
Skills: Mrs. Lowe has a list of skills that are practiced by students...
1. Locomotor - walk, run, skip, leap, slide, etc.
2. Non Locomotor - bend, push, twist, stretch, turn
3. Gross motor - participation with age appropriate success
4. Hand-eye coordination - throwing, catching, dribbling, etc.
5. Foot-eye coordination - kicking, punting, dribbling, etc.
6. Balancing - weight transfer, etc.
Requirements: Mrs. Lowe's physical education requirements are that all classes need to be appropriately dressed and wearing appropriate tennis shoes. Grades four through five are required to bring a change of shirt for class. Six through eighth grades need to bring a change of shirts and shorts and/or sweats.
Attendance: Grades kindergarten through second grade attend physical education classes twice a week for half a year. Grades third through fourth attend classes three times a week for half a year. Grades fifth through eighth attend physical education classes two times a week and have forty-five minute classes.
