The students will be studying some of the letters from the New Testament and how they have helped to spread Christianity throughout the world.

Ancient History Sixth graders are about to leave the Valley of the Kings as they complete a unit on Egypt and Nubia. Some of the pupils did research on the different gods and their relationship to nature and the world around them. They will soon be visiting ancient India and the settlement around the Indus and Ganges River Valleys as well as the beginning of Hinduism and Buddhism.

Science
As this New Year begins the sixth graders will continue their study of the digestive system and nutrition. The objective is to become better educated for decisions on eating habits and how they affect ones health.
The seventh grade life science class has just completed a study of inheritance and genetics with an introduction to the genome project and genetic engineering. This group of students will be exploring scientific classification of organisms and the five kingdoms. They will be doing a research project on a bird of North America and become more knowledgeable of the birds of the Pacific Northwest.

The eighth grade has completed a study of the different agents of erosion. They will be working on a unit of the internal forces that change the earth’s surface. Questions such as what causes all that shaking and the anatomy of a volcano will be examined.

Art
The first semester art elective class worked on papier mache and the students produced varying objects which were on display in the hall. The second semester class is working on drawing and painting. They will be working on the elements of art and producing a variety of projects using both pencil and paint. Their major project will involve Georgia O’Keeffe’s style of work.
