Ø Hand Bells Bell tables need help – For the past three years, Longview First Christian Church has generously allowed us to use their 3 hand bell tables. These are special tables designed for hand bell choirs. During that time they have been moved from music room to church to off site concert opportunities. Each table has 3 inches of foam covered by a light weight fabric. They are showing wear and need to be recovered. They need to be ready for the Christmas season. Need share hours? Have fabric skills? Please contact Karla Dudley. Fabric will be supplied. Ø Monster Mash Candy Call Mark your calendars! The Monster Mash is coming Friday, October 24 from 6-9pm in the St. Rose Parish Center. We are in need of small, individually wrapped candy to be used as prizes. Look for cauldrons at the office to drop off goodies. Please remember, any donations count toward share hours! Thank you. Ø Fall Fundraiser Success! Our Fall Fundraiser ended yesterday. Thank you to all who participated. Please be sure any late packets are turned in no later than Friday morning, October 3. All regular orders will be combined with on-line orders to help determine class participation and top seller winners. Product orders will be distributed before Halloween. Earlier this month my I was fishing for that elusive sturgeon from the St. Helen’s docks. I always enjoy talking to the other fishermen as they share fish tales and tips with each other. But that particular weekend the topic of conversation was their jobs, past and present. I listened to their complaints towards bosses, duties, and fellow workers. Most didn’t have anything positive to contribute. I thought how sad it must be to spend eight or more hours a day doing something that didn’t bring joy to your life. When I could stay quiet no longer, I proceeded to tell them how blessed I was. Every morning the smiling faces of students greet me. My parents and staff are supportive and willing to assist whenever asked. My boss is always willing to listen. I shared how I have loved my job for 21 years. I wouldn’t trade the experiences I’ve had or the people I’ve met for anything. The men next to me were in awe of what I was saying! It was then that I realized that God has truly blessed me with the good fortune of being in the CatholicSchool system. I never did get that sturgeon. However one of the men showed up at my boat the next morning with a large bag of frozen fish he had caught the day before. He brought tears to my eyes as he said I had inspired him and that he was going to look for the positive in his chosen profession. I pray that each of you is enjoying your job and the people who work with you. Thank you for sending your children to St. Rose so that I can continue to enjoy this path God has chosen for me. May God bless you. Rosemary Griggs, Principal |
